Behind the Scenes: How I Designed This Year’s Christmas Set
When I started planning this year’s Christmas minis, I knew I wanted something cozy — something that quietly says hot chocolate on a Christmas morning by the fireplace. I wanted families to walk in and instantly feel that warmth, like they were stepping into a holiday movie scene.
The Vision -
Every year, I try to create a set that tells a story. This year’s story is all about slow mornings, soft light, and that peaceful Christmas feeling before the day really begins. The kind where you’re in pajamas, maybe music playing softly, and everything feels calm and special.
The Look -
Instead of the usual bright reds and greens, I kept things more neutral this year; warm whites, soft browns, and gold tones. The textures do most of the work: cozy blankets, soft pillows, and a little sparkle from string lights. It’s simple, clean, and warm; just how I like it.
Building It Out -
I spent a few late nights putting it together piece by piece in the studio. The goal was to make it feel inviting, like a space you’d actually want to curl up in. Once I turned on the lights and saw everything come together, it really did feel like Christmas morning.
The Experience -
When families walk in, I’ve loved seeing their reactions. The kids usually go straight for the pillows, parents settle in, and suddenly the whole set comes to life.
